We are off on an another adventure. This is going to be pretty cool. Our first day...
Mark took us to the airport for a 3 ½ hour flight (Delta) to Minnesota. We got this flight with our points, which made
it even better. All went well and we picked up our rental car, & then we are off to see Tom
Eckhoff at the American Legion play the drums with the band “Rock
Rangers”. Had dinner there & music
(our favorite things). He was busy, but
we spent a little time with him. Then
off to Mantorville to Sue’s place. We talked
for a little while then went to bed, it was a long day. I got a cold or
something from the flight with ears blocked & a sore throat.
Drove to Lake City to see
Jonathon, after stopping by Walmart to purchase a new suitcase. Saw the place he is living now which is fine
for him being by himself. It is a short walk to the river. He has great internet speed & that makes
him happy. Went to lunch on Lake Pepin
at the “Lake House Restaurant”. He had found this advertised & decided it
would a good place to eat. It was nice
looking out at the lake, which is still high from the Spring run-off. Off to Stockholm, Wisconsin to see some sights & to have some
delicious pie. We had coconut cream with
meringue (like my mom used to make). It
was just like Jon said-great. On the way back, we stopped & got
ourselves some ice cream in Nelson.
Delicious! Then to the bluff in
Alma (Buena Vista Park Overlook). Great
views of river. Back to Lake City. Nice day out with Jon.
Hanging out at Sue’s
today. She made us a great
breakfast. Drove to Red Wing later in
the day with Sue. I am still not feeling well-getting advice from Sue on what
to take. Sue purchased some fireworks in
Wisconsin for the graduation party.
Picked up the cake from Hanish Bakery for our Anniversary get together. Met up with Lisa & Mark, Paul & Linda
at the cemetery. Cleaned up Dad &
Moms grave site & then took off to the Mississippi Golf Links for our 50th
Anniversary celebration with the members of the wedding party. Jonathon (Best man), Rick Taylor (Groomsman),
Greg Erickson (Usher), Linda Goodfellow (Maid of Honor), Sue Voth Seitzer
(Bridesmaid), Susanne Cutshall (flower girl), Bunny Eckhoff (coffee), Sherry
Eckhoff (cake): Lisa, Mark, Glen, Brad, Paul, Alyssa, Katelyn. Caught up on
what has happened since April 19, 1969. Steve had pictures on his computer from our
wedding & on our upcoming trip. He
gave a toast & remembered everyone’s name. I had a small photo book with
pictures of wedding & some of our adventures. Dinner was good & the waitress excellent. Great time had by all. Does not seem like 50 years since we were
married at St Paul’s Lutheran Church with Steve’s dad there to help perform the
ceremony. Wow
